Young Pan Africanists Development Foundation (YOPADEF) is a non-governmental organization with an aim of addressing unemployment problem among the youth in Uganda through three strategic objectives; these include;
- To establish a youth think tank which will entirely do policy analysis, research, lobby and advocacy
- To establish a youth incubation centre which will entirely incubate academic ideas into implementable ideas for job security.
- To establish a youth bank which will ensure taking youth savings for investment, profit generation and consistent capital for starting businesses.
The organization which is five years old is located at plot 27 Nakasero Road Kampala Uganda and it brings together 72 members on the National Executive Council (NEC), 9 board members and the secretariat which is headed by the Secretary General. Our activities include ; Policy dialogue, research, leadership/governance and development, Savings and investments’, Incubation of ideas, Intellectual fellowships, Youth Mentorship, Youth Sensitization on developmental aspects, Community outreaches , Entrepreneurship training, Internships and apprenticeships.
With this opportunity to Particiate at the great lakes youth network Project , first, shall strengthen our organization’s internal capacities in areas most relevant to our work: effective communication, advocacy, resource mobilization, organization structuring through high-quality training workshops, including a training of trainers’ component. I notice that we shall be able to get a sub-granting scheme and a mentoring programme for the best project ideas to be supported. Secondly, we will be enabled to build a network with other youth organizations in our country and in the region through frequent exchanges, cross-border discussions and three regional summer schools. Thirdly, we will gain access to a strong national and regional network of stakeholders to encourage exchanges and possible cooperation in the future.
