Twogere is a youth-led mental health charity working with young people with lived experience of mental health challenges as primary beneficiaries and stakeholder. It was established in 2018 in response to the overwhelming stigma and discrimination of young people with mental health challenges and their families.

In line with our vision, our activities are focused on changing the way how people think and act about mental health problems. The issue is that many Ugandans think that people with mental health challenges cannot be treated. Those affected are often marginalized and isolated in almost all spheres of life, and their rights abused.

We therefore believe that by having young people share their lived experience of mental health challenges with those without is the best way to educate public about mental health problems, change perceptions, actions and thinking and come to appreciate that just like any other illness, a person with a mental health problem can be treated and attain full recovery, and be able to contribute towards the development of their community.
