Shirika la Kijana Angaza Tanzania (SHIKIATA) is a not-for-profit sharing organization registered in Tanzania under the NGO Act of 2002. It was registered on 30th November 2020 with registration number ooNGO/R/1525 for the purpose of improving lives of youth through different approaches preferred by Adolescents.
We noted that the education system in Tanzania prepares youth to seek for employment instead of self-employ; to identify problems, but not to come up with practical solutions for those problems. As a result, employment chances are getting scarce everyday and the labor market is not able to employ all those seeking for employment. Most of the youth lack entrepreneurial skills and hence, when they complete their schools or colleges education, fail to venture into entrepreneurship. Additionally, most of the youth lack soft skills, life skills and Sexual reproductive Health (SRH). The lack of these skills is reflected in the growing number of people with HIV/AIDS and increase in pre-teen and teen-pregnancy due to the lack of, and in some instances, inadequate information on sexual and reproductive health.
In addressing the above-mentioned challenges, Shirika la Kijana Angaza Tanzania (SHIKIATA) decided to dedicate itself in researching on proven entrepreneurship methods, Employability and life skills trainings for youth applicable to Tanzanian context. We further produced relatable and understandable entrepreneurship content for media and the informal classroom for youth in Tanzania through our YouTube Channel Kijana Angaza. The channel and other training also focus on the provision of sexual and reproductive health, promoting child protection and agriculture for food security.
