Kad Initiative Uganda (formerly Kanungu Development Initiative) addresses gender-based violence (GBV) through community dialogue meetings where mediation dialogues are facilitated by mediators to resolve emerging conflicts before escalation. Furthermore, the organization links GBV survivors to other service providers like health facilities, police, judiciary and other CSOs that provide specialised services.

Since peace does not only mean the absence of war, the organization is involved in promoting positive peace by building capabilities of youth to address poverty, hunger, illiteracy and environmental degradation. This is done through community dialogue meetings, sensitization meetings, workshops and radio talk-shows. This approach is emphasized in the positive peace framework.

We are therefore supporting communities to build systems for alternative dispute resolution mechanisms aimed at addressing political and GBV conflicts in Kanungu district and beyond. This is done by working with local actors in communities to use local tools to resolve emerging conflict before escalation.

In order to create inclusive safe spaces, the organization empowers youth to develop their own solutions to conflicts through debates and dialogue.
